January 2023 Book Review
Last year, I made it goal to “read” more. Now I put “read” in quotes, because I don’t have time to sit down and physically read, but I am always busy around the house, driving, or working on the computer. I started listening to books, first through Audible, and second through the Libby app through our local library. I still read a few physical books a year, especially on vacation and during long hours of baseball practice, but right now with this busy phase of life, most of my books are listened to!
Here are the books I read this January…
Rock Paper Scissors by: Alice Fenney
A great mystery with lots of twists! I enjoyed trying to figure out who was the antagonist in this story. Alice Fenney does a great job of vividly describing her characters to make them feel like they are leaping off of the page! If I would have had a physical book, I would have gone back to re-read some of the pages to have a different understanding! Highly recommend!
Heart Bones by: Colleen Hoover
A cute love story, based in the Houston area after Hurricane Ike. Hollis and I bought our first house during this Hurricane so I felt a connection to the story. Quick, easy, chick lite read!
Maybe Not by: Colleen Hoover
My least favorite in the series. I actually do not recommend this book. It felt like there were just trying to finish up the series and had to write this book. I powered through to be done with the series but it felt like a waste of time!
Book Lovers by: Emily Henry
I loved this book also! Super cute stories. It was about a sister relationship. I loved watching the story about the sisters and of course there was a love story in there. I loved that the love story wasn’t the main part of the story, but still in there. Adorable, chic lite, beach read!
Violin Conspiracy by: Brendan Slocumb
A great story about a boy who is an extremely talented violinist. Not many people believe in him, but his grandmother does. He is given a family heirloom violin which turns out to be worth a lot of money. It goes missing and we get to read the book to figure out the mystery of who took the violin. Overall a great story about perseverance, believing in yourself and a great mystery all tied into one!
The Last Thing He Told Me by: Laura Dave
This story is based in Austin and Sausalito, both places we use to live. This always makes it more fun to read since I can picture the places they are talking about so vividly. A little bit of a mystery, I enjoyed reading about a daughter and her stepmom and the way they are trying to find their husband/dad. The bond is fun to watch develop and the mystery makes it a great story!
